Do I need to be a good public speaker?
No! MUN is a great place to learn public speaking. Everyone starts at a different level, and teachers and peers help you improve. You are never expected to be perfect.
What topics are discussed?
Topics may include: Climate Change, World Health, Human Rights, Education, Technology and Safety depending on your committee.
All topics are age-appropriate for middle school students.
Will I be speaking the whole time?
No. You will listen, work in small groups, write ideas, and speak only when you feel ready. Chairs guide the discussion to ensure proper flow of debate.
Must I be an expert on my country?
Not at all. You will research your country ahead of time to understand its perspectives, but you are not expected to be perfect. You can bring all your notes on conference day. MUN is about learning, not memorizing facts.
